Jupiter FL Bucket List

Things you should do in Jupiter, FL:

Climb the lighthouse. And by that we mean take the stairs - don't cheat and use a grappling hook! There are not many places you can do this unique experience and it is one of the most popular attractions and most photographed places in our town. So why not take that experience to the next level and see the view from the top? It is a very affordable opportunity and an experience you won't forget!

Take in a turtle walk with the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. If you don't know what a Loggerhead is, then all the more reason to stop by! Take in a turtle walk to see turtles nesting in the evening hours to learn even more and see first hand this rare glimpse into the vital struggle of their survival. We are very fortunate to have the sea turtle education, research, and rehabilitation center right here in our area! Here you can learn about conservation of Florida’s coastal ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles. Visit with live sea turtles being rehabilitated and if you are lucky, even watch one make it's journey back into the ocean!

Watch a turtle release with the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. If you are lucky enough to be here when a turtle release is scheduled, we strongly recommend you do not miss this! Loggerhead Marinelife center is a sea turtle hospital and rehabilitation center. Once sick or injured sea turtles are well enough, they are released back into the ocean and the public is always invited to watch this momentous occassion. Seeing the excitement of these turtles when they see that vast ocean and smell the salty water and air leaves me giddy each time. Contact Loggerhead Marinelife Center to find out if any releases are scheduled during your time in Jupiter.

Take in a real wildlife adventure. See eagles, bears, snakes, panthers, crocodile, otters and more that live in our natural areas at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. Nature trails lead visitors through pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, and cypress wetlands to see the animals living amongst their habitats for a one-of-a-kind experience to learn about Florida’s wildlife and natural environments. This unique refuge combines a nature center with a wildlife hospital.

Stroll in Riverbend Park. Or kayak, horseback ride, picnic, bicycle, fish. This beautiful park encompasses more than 665 acres and has several events and programs throughout the year. Such a beautiful place to enjoy the nature and beauty that we can often forget when the work days are blending together. Get out and get some fresh air, soak in some peace. See birds, deer, raccoon, squirrels, aligators, and more all in this park almost daily. I always see a wide variety when visiting here.

Take in a live perfromance at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is an award-winning professional not-for-profit regional theatre dedicated to the performing arts whose mission is to entertain, educate and inspire our community. Incredible performances which have included The Sound of Music, Les Miserables, Fiddler on the Roof, The Crucible, and so many more.

Make a painting of something you love about Jupiter. You do not have to be an artist to make a memorable creation from paint. A beach scene, the lighthouse, kayakers on the river, a sea turtle...you get the idea. What a nice, personal keepsake to cherish no matter where you go. Every member of the family should paint one to make a nice collage.

Watch this year's production of Shakespeare By the Sea - it's FREE. A professional, non-profit organization presenting free summer productions of Shakespeare's works and year-round avante-gard selections of classic and contemporary plays for twenty years. A lot of love, talent, and hard work goes into this every year and it shows. Taming of the Shrew - July 7-10 and July 14-17 at the Seabreeze Amphitheater in Carlin Park.

Visit our Beaches! We have a wide variety of beaches and parks for everyone! Sandy beaches, rocky beaches, dog friendly beaches, popular kite boarding and surfing spots, guarded beaches, fishing beaches and of course the Inlet and Juno Pier. Dubois Park lagoon is also popular for families with small children.

Explore Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Many species of wildlife may be observed at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, including deer, raccoons, foxes, otters, bobcats, and more. Alligators are commonly seen, as are turtles along the river. Over 150 species of birds have been identified here, making Jonathan Dickinson a premier birding destination. The park offer many amenties such as biking, canoeing, kayaking, hikng trails, horseback trails, swimming, fishing, concession stand, picnic tables, and camp sites (primitve and full faciliy). They also have cabins for rent. They offer a boat tour if you wish to just relax and take in the scenery or even have boat ramps if you wish to bring your own.

Soak in the scenery and a little live music at many restaurants in the area. Many of them are on the river and offer breath taking views of sunsets or the famous Jupiter lighthouse. Live music can be found at popular local eateries on almost any night of the week and cover a wide varity of music types so you are sure to find one that appeals to your music tastes as well as delight food and cocktails for your taste buds!

Visit The River Center. This is a great way that you can learn more about our beautiful and scenic Loxahatchee River. The River Center features live aquatic tanks, interactive exhibits, and a touch tank that represent the river system from a freshwater cypress swamp to seagrass-dominated estuary to marine ecosystems. The center provides an opportunity for school children, adults, visitors, and long-time residents an opportunity to learn about Florida's first National Wild and Scenic River.
