The Princess Diaries 2
writes, "Set five years after the events of the first film, Mia (Anne Hathaway) is settling into life as the future queen of European 'burb Genovia. Guided by the current queen and grandmother (a sublime Julie Andrews), Mia learns that to take her place as ruler, she must marry within 30 days. The bachelor choices are slim, with a nefarious member of Genovia's parliament (John Rhys-Davies, 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Raiders of the Lost Ark') pushing his nephew (Chris Pine) into Mia's arms to take control of the kingdom through their marriage."

A Cinderella Story
writes, "After the death of her beloved father, Samantha (Hilary Duff) is forced to move in with her evil stepmother (Jennifer Coolidge, doing her best with nothing) and two ugly stepsisters. Trying hard to maintain her grades for college and nursing a crush on Austin (Chad Michael Murray, 'Gilmore Girls'), the requisite high school quarterback hunk, Samantha finds herself buried under the weight of work and hatred brought on her by the wicked stepmother. With the help of her co-worker/fairy godmother (a bright Regina King), Samantha throws caution to the wind and seeks to change her life through the strength of her ambition and some text messaging."

The Manchurian Candidate
writes, "Guided by his politically ambitious mother, Senator Eleanor Shaw (Meryl Streep), Raymond Shaw (Live Schreiber) is being groomed to become the next vice president of the United States, campaigning on a platform of his war hero experience in the first Gulf War. Trouble is, his commanding officer, Ben Marco (Denzel Washington) doesn't quite remember it that way. When the clues start adding up to an elaborate medical brainwashing experiment performed on Marco's platoon during the war, the former military officer takes matters into his own hands, investigating whether or not Shaw is part of the cover-up, and how deep the conspiracy goes. "

Spiderman 2
writes, "Two years after killing the Green Goblin, Peter Parker/Spider-Man (pitch-perfect Tobey Maguire) has settled into a lackluster life of continual unemployment, habitual tardiness at school, and heartbreak, watching his beloved Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) move on to other relationships. When a scientist named Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina) loses control of a radical energy experiment, it leaves him with four mind-controlling robotic tentacles and a thirst to control the world. Now, for Peter to find true happiness, he must choose between his two personas; a decision which is made all the more urgent when 'Doc Ock' comes calling at the bidding of a vengeance-seeking Harry Osborn (James Franco), the Goblin's son."

Two Brothers
writes, "Jean-Jacques Annaud's `Two Brothers' is another step in the director's continuing quest to explore the nature of nature. A cross between a Disney `True Life Adventure' story and Annaud's own 1988 animal drama, `The Bear,' `Two Brothers' isn't the most engrossing picture of the year, but it stands as a family film triumph that doesn't rely on flatulence or condescension to speak to its young audience. "

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story
writes, "'Dodgeball' belongs in a special class of cinema: the angry sports comedy. Like 'Happy Gilmore,' 'The Bad News Bears,' and the film's blatant template (to a litigious degree), the 1998 Trey Parker/Matt Stone sports satire 'Baseketball,' 'Dodgeball' is a comedy all about the body blows and the lovable losers of life getting their faces pushed into the dirt. Writer/director Rawson Marshal Thurber is clearly bowing to the sports comedy classics, stealing all the good bits from other, better movies. But those great minds didn't have the sense to set their lunacy in the arena of dodgeball: game of the Gods."

Around the World in 80 Days
writes, "Jules Verne's adventure, `Around the World in 80 Days,' has been adapted in practically every decade since the film industry was formed, most famously in a 1956 epic comedy, starring David Niven and Cantinflas. This latest incarnation of the famous race around the globe has taken a very different path: that of a Jackie Chan film, complete with heavily choreographed fight sequences and stacks of slapstick. If Jules Verne could see what Chan has done to his story, I'm sure he would weep for 80 days."
