Neil Simon’s Best Barefoot in the Park
writes, "South Florida’s J. Barry Lewis directs Maltz production
March 21 through April 2

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre concludes their successful 2005/2006 season with the funny romantic comedy, “Barefoot in the Park.” Neil Simon’s Tony Award winning play originally opened on Broadway in 1963. In 1967 it was made into a feature film starring Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. The Maltz production, under the direction of South Florida’s own, J. Barry Lewis, opens on March 21 and runs through April 2. Performances are at 7:30 pm Tuesday through Friday; 8 pm on Saturday and 2 pm matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
"
“Barefoot in the Park” follows Paul Bratter, a conservative young lawyer and his irrepressible bride, Corie, as they struggle with marital discord after the ecstasy of the honeymoon gives way to the reality of setting up housekeeping in a cramped New York City five-flight walk-up.

This classic play really gets started when Corie’s mother, Mrs. Banks, played by another South Floridian and four-time Carbonell award-winning actress Barbara Bradshaw, arrives on the scene and with the nosey neighbor upstairs always interrupting; things get quite hectic and hilarious! The great lines in this play are Neil Simon as his best and will have audiences laughing the entire evening.

J. Barry Lewis received a Carbonell Award for Best Director of a Play in 2005 for “That Championship Season,” Palm Beach Dramaworks and for Best Director of a Musical, “Berlin to Broadway,” Palm Beach Dramaworks. In 2004 he won another Carbonell award for his direction of “Jacques Brel is Alive” and “Well and Living in Paris.” Lewis is a member of the Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers.

Prices for Barefoot start at only $25 for the Tuesday preview show and matinees; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening orchestra seating is $40 and mezzanine is $32.50; Friday and Saturday evening orchestra seating is $45 and mezzanine is $37.50.

Tickets can be purchased at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at www.jupitertheatre.org or by phone 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 Indiantown Road and A1A in Jupiter and is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres and recently received a Carbonell Award nomination.
