admin writes, "Comedy Super Troupe Returns For Two Shows
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre presents the only group in America that attempts to be funnier then the Congress - Capitol Steps. The hilarious political satire show was originally scheduled for October, but due to hurricane Wilma will now be performed on Dec 31, 2005 for two shows at 5 and 8 pm.
The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. Most cast members have worked on Capitol Hill; some for Democrats, some for Republicans, and others for politicians who firmly straddle the fence. No matter who holds office, there's never a shortage of material. Says Elaina Newport, "Typically the Republicans goof up, and the Democrats party. Then the Democrats goof up and the Republicans party. That's what we call the two-party system."
Prices for Capitol Steps are $33 for the 5 pm show, and $45 for the 8 pm show.
Tickets can be purchased at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at www.jupitertheatre.org or by phone 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 Indiantown Road and A1A in Jupiter and is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres.
