Carbonell Award Nominations
writes, "The Tin Pan Alley Rag leads the race with 10 total – The Maltz Jupiter Theatre received the highest honor in South Florida theatre excellence with13 Carbonell Award nominations.

The Tin Pan Alley Rag, produced by the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and local resident and Maltz Jupiter Theatre board member, Rodger Hess of Rodger Hess Productions leads the entire race with 10 nominations. Guys and Dolls also received three nominations.

“I am thrilled that this collaboration at the Maltz has been recognized so highly by the Carbonell voters,” said Hess. “This musical adaptation was truly a team effort and I could not be happier that just about everyone involved in the production has also been recognized by the voters.”

The Tin Pan Alley Rag’s ten nominations include Best Production of a Musical; Best Director/Musical for Jiri Zizka; Best Actor/Musical for Fred Berman and Alton Fitgerald White; Best Supporting Actress/Musical for Idara Victor; Musical Direction/Musical Brad Ellis; Choreography/Musical George Faison; Best Scenic Design David P. Gordon; Best Costume Design Vickie Esposito; Best Sound Design Carl Casella and T. Richard Fitzgerald.

Guys and Dolls’ three nominations were for Best Actress Tia Speros; Best Supporting Actor for Richard Ruiz; Choreography/Musical for Daniel Pelzig.

“This vote of confidence from the Carbonell nominators clearly shows that the theatre is here to stay. Recognition by this important group confirms that the Jupiter Theatre has taken its place as a major factor in the South Florida theatre scene,” said Milton Maltz.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s 2006/2007 theatrical season continues with the opening of the musical masterpiece Man of LaMancha on February 13 and a new production Two Pianos Four Hands which opens March 20. The 2007/2008 Fifth Anniversary Season will be announced next week.

The 31st Annual Carbonell Awards, named for the artist who designed the statuettes, will be held on April 9 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre. The theater is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 E. Indiantown Road and State Road A1A in Jupiter.
